Backup Environments Using NDMP
For any business
The Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) is an open-standard network protocol that can be used to specify the communication between the server and the backup software in a network attached storage (NAS) environment. If you already have an NDMP infrastructure, this solution provides a cost-effective way to expand it. However, NDMP can be expensive to implement, so if you aren't already using NDMP, a solution using BakBone NetVault or supported third-party backup agents may be a better choice.
Adaptec GuardianOS Snap Servers integrate easily into your NDMP v2, v3, or v4 environment. In the illustrated solution, an NDMP-enabled Snap Server provides both data server and tape server functionality, offloading data to a local tape library for archiving and sending data across the network to the primary backup server.
Key benefits of this solution include:
Compatible with your NDMP v2, v3, v4 environment
Centrally managed through the existing NDMP software
Enables local, remote, and third-party backup configurations
Cost-effectively scales as data grows
Eliminates the network traffic associated with backup and recovery
